Flimwell Park

Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Village of Flimwell on the East Sussex border with Kent, Flimwell Park has been designed to connect people with its woodland surroundings. The aim is to enhance the wellbeing of the community that will live, work and visit us, whether that will be to work in one of our all-timber workspaces or to enjoy lunch at our restaurant-café or just to come and enjoy a walk in our woodland.

The development, designed by Steven Johnson, The Architecture Ensemble, is now nearing completion after over a decade of consultation, planning and negotiation, and finally receiving full, detailed planning consent in December 2015. Our aim is to show how architectural and woodland development can exist in a continuous, integrated and mutually beneficial relationship.

The emphasis is on creating opportunities for woodland enterprise, recreation, diverse woodland studies and building activity for education and training. Our aim is for Flimwell Park to be an inspiringly beautiful, busy, and creative place to live, work and visit, producing food, fuel, materials, and a wide range of goods and services working in harmony with nature.
